Philosophy

We don’t always decide what the wood will become.

Every piece begins with the wood. Before anything is drawn or cut, we look at what the tree has already made: the direction of the grain, a knot, a crack, an edge that follows the bark.

Nature has already created much of the design. Our work is to reveal it: to remove what hides it and to leave the rest alone. Grain, knots and natural edges determine what follows.

Some pieces are not designed. They are found.

One-of-a-kind objects inspired by the natural shapes, grain, knots and imperfections of solid wood. Rather than forcing the wood into a predetermined form, we let each piece reveal what is already there.

Branches, grain, cracks and natural forms give the starting point. We follow them until the object shows itself, and stop there.
